We’ve discovered a great way to sync Google Calendar with the built-in calendar on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The best part is that it doesn’t require any 3rd party apps or a jailbreak, not even any software downloads. All you have to do is go to nuevasync.com. From there you can create an account. Basically, what it does is create a Microsoft Exchange account for you which connects with your Gmail account. Then you go to your settings and add the account and enable it to sync with calendars, and it works great. Whenever your connected to wifi it updates your calendar right away, so you don’t have to press any sync buttons or anything, it takes care of everything for you in a very stable and simple way. Go to nuevasync.com for full instructions and registrations. Took us about 10 minutes to get it all running and going and there were no problems. By the way, it’s totally free.

Great tip! I’ve been frustrated by the inability of my IPod Touch to sync natively with Google Calendar – this makes a big difference in using it as a PDA as well as an entertainment device. Thanks again for this way to use the Touch as a business tool!

Thanks for the comments!
Actually, you should be able to update your Gmail Calendar using your iPhone or iPod Touch. When you make a change on the device calendar, it’ll sync onto Gmail at the first possible chance, meaning when you connect to the internet. It should be a two way sync. Give it a try.
Happy new year!

I’ve configured this and it seems to be working. I’m still trying to figure out how to create additional calendars on my iPod Touch and be able to color code them. I don’t own a Mac so I don’t have access to iCal. Any suggestions?

NuevaSync works like a champ, and the synchronization is indeed 2-way. Thanks so much for this info; this saves me from having to upgrade from Office/Outlook 2000 just to sync my calendar. My iPod touch and I are now very happy together.

Hi,
DB: Unfortunately, I don’t know how to create multiple calendars. But I’ll keep playing around because it is something I’ve been wanting to do.
Peter: To create a Microsoft Exchange account, click Settings > Mail > Add Account and MIcrosoft Exchange should be the first option.
Hope this works.
